India is not only gaining global recognition for its fast economic growth, but also for the immense wealth of its billionaires. According to the Hurun Global Rich List 2025, the total wealth of Indian billionaires is now higher than the GDP of Saudi Arabia.
Wealth of Indian Billionaires in 2025
The Hurun Global Rich List 2025 reveals that India has 284 billionaires, which is 13 more compared to last year. The combined wealth of these billionaires stands at ₹98 lakh crore (around 1.18 trillion USD), which is nearly one-third of India’s total GDP.
In comparison, Saudi Arabia’s GDP is ₹91.35 lakh crore (around 1.07 trillion USD). This shows how Indian billionaires’ wealth has surpassed the entire economy of Saudi Arabia. The total wealth of Indian billionaires has increased by 10% compared to last year, highlighting India’s growing economic strength.
A New Era of Prosperity
Anas Rahman Junaid, Founder and Chief Researcher of Hurun India, mentioned that the total wealth of Indian billionaires has now crossed 1 trillion USD. This marks the beginning of a new era of prosperity. Interestingly, the wealth of 62% of Indian billionaires has increased this year.
Fluctuations in the Number of Billionaires
In recent years, the number of billionaires in India has seen ups and downs:
- In 2022, India had 249 billionaires.
- In 2023, due to market uncertainties, the number dropped to 187.
- In 2024, the number recovered to 271.
- In 2025, the number has increased further to 284.
This consistent rise in billionaires’ wealth shows India’s economic growth and resilience even in challenging times.
