Champions Trophy 2025: England vs South Africa Match Impact

The last Group B match of the Champions Trophy 2025 between England and South Africa is set to take place on March 1 in Karachi. This match will decide which team tops the group and whether Afghanistan secures a place in the semi-finals. With three of the last four matches affected by rain, the weather in Karachi will play a crucial role in the outcome.

What Happens if the Match is a Draw?

Currently, Australia leads Group B with 4 points. However, its position at the top is uncertain. If the England vs South Africa match is drawn, both teams will get 1 point each. This will give South Africa 4 points, allowing them to overtake Australia and take the top spot due to a better net run rate. England, on the other hand, will finish at the bottom of the table with just 2 points.

Will Afghanistan Qualify for the Semi-Finals?

Australia has already secured a semi-final spot with 4 points. The second semi-finalist from Group B will be either South Africa or Afghanistan. Both teams currently have 3 points, but South Africa has a much better net run rate. If the England vs South Africa match is drawn, South Africa will get 4 points, eliminating Afghanistan from the tournament. South Africa will then finish at the top of Group B and move to the semi-finals.
