IND vs ENG 2nd Test – Shubman Gill Reveals Day 3 Plan: “We Will Frustrate Them”

Published on

In the second Test match between India and England at Edgbaston, Team India is in a strong position. Thanks to Shubman Gill’s brilliant double century and the Indian bowlers’ great start, England is struggling at 77/3 in reply to India’s massive first innings total of 587 runs.

🗣️ Shubman Gill’s Day 3 Strategy

After the day’s play, Indian captain Shubman Gill shared his plan for Day 3. He said:

“As the ball gets older, the pitch helps less. So we need to bowl in one area again and again and frustrate them. If we allow them to score freely all over the ground, it will be hard to stop them.”

Gill explained that the team will try to make the England batters struggle for runs, forcing them to play bad shots and get out.

🏏 Childhood Batting Style Helped Big Score

Gill played a stunning 269-run knock in over 8 hours. He said he went back to his childhood basics:

“In recent matches, I was getting out after scoring 30-40 runs. I was losing focus. In this series, I decided to play like I used to in my childhood—no pressure, no worry about the big score. I just focused on enjoying each ball. That’s what worked.”

🎯 India’s Plan: Build Pressure, Take Wickets

Gill admitted that batting on English pitches is not easy, but the bowlers also don’t get much help. That’s why India’s plan is to keep bowling in the same line and length to mentally tire the England batters and force mistakes.

⚔️ Can England Survive Day 3?

So far, Gill has impressed both as a batsman and a captain. If the Indian bowlers follow this smart plan, it will be very hard for England to fight back on Day 3.
