Published on

Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan has set a world record by becoming the highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket. He surpassed West Indies’ former all-rounder Dwayne Bravo to achieve this remarkable feat. Rashid is currently playing in the SA20 League, where he claimed the record-breaking wicket.

Rashid Khan Leads MI Cape Town
Rashid is the captain of MI Cape Town in the SA20 tournament. The first qualifier match was played between Paarl Royals and MI Cape Town. In this match, Rashid took his first wicket and broke Bravo’s record. Bravo had taken 631 wickets in his T20 career, while Rashid now has 633 wickets to his name.

Record in Less Than 10 Years
Rashid made his T20 debut in October 2015 against Zimbabwe, taking just one wicket in that match. In less than 10 years, he has become the top wicket-taker in T20 cricket.

Dwayne Bravo, who retired in 2024, made his T20 debut against New Zealand in February 2006. It took him nearly 18 years to reach the milestone of 631 wickets. Rashid, however, achieved a higher number in less than 10 years.
