The body produces cortisol, a stress hormone, which can reduce the immune system’s ability to detect and kill cancer cells. Over time, this allows cancer cells to grow and multiply. Stress also promotes inflammation, creating an environment where cancer cells can thrive and spread.

Unhealthy behaviors caused by stress, such as smoking, overeating, and excessive alcohol consumption, further increase the risk of cancer. Poor eating habits, including the consumption of processed foods and sugary snacks, also contribute to obesity and a higher cancer risk.

  • Limit Screen Time: Take regular breaks and avoid screens before bedtime.
  • Manage Stress: Practice relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation.
  • Stay Active: Exercise regularly to maintain a healthy weight.
  • Eat Healthy: Focus on a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
  • Sleep Well: Aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep every night.
  • Regular Check-Ups: Get health screenings and consult doctors for any concerns.

By making these small but impactful changes, young people can reduce their risk of cancer and lead healthier lives.
