TMC MP Mahua Moitra has claimed that fish and meat shops are being shut down in South East Delhi’s Chittaranjan Park (CR Park) area. She posted a video on X (Twitter) saying that BJP workers are threatening shopkeepers because the market is near a temple.
What Did Mahua Moitra Say?
Mahua wrote:
“BJP goons of the saffron brigade are harassing Bengali people who eat fish in CR Park. Locals say this has never happened in the last 60 years.”
What’s in the Video?
In the video Mahua posted, a man wearing saffron clothes is seen saying:
“There should not be a fish market near a temple. In Sanatan Dharma, killing any being is wrong. It’s false to say that goddesses are offered meat. There’s no such proof in our scriptures.”
A shopkeeper replies:
“This fish market was allowed by the DDA (Delhi Development Authority).”
The saffron-clad man responds:
“Yes, I know. But DDA cannot escape its responsibility. We will correct their mistake. CR Park is a nice area where foreigners also visit. Everyone is watching.”
BJP’s Reaction
The Delhi BJP President dismissed the incident as a political conspiracy. He said:
“This video seems to be made on purpose to disturb peace. The fish market and shopkeepers in CR Park have been working here for many years, respectfully maintaining the area’s religious values.”
He asked the Delhi Police to act quickly and strongly, saying:
“Spreading such fake rumours and creating conflict on purpose is shameful. Police should investigate the matter properly and punish those responsible.”
Mahua Moitra’s Reply
Mahua Moitra responded by saying:
“The BJP goons are clearly seen in the video, yet no one has been arrested.”
So far, Delhi Police has not made any official statement. Everyone is waiting for further investigation and action.
